Which Disc Brake Rotor Size Is Best For You?

You may have noticed that mountain bike disc brake rotors come in sizes ranging from about 140mm diameter at the smaller end of the scale and about 210mm at the larger end. But what difference does this make? Well, in a nutshell, the larger the rotor, the more stopping power is available (and if you're interested in knowing why, see Why Do Larger Discs Mean More Stopping Power?). So you might think that you'll just go for a 210mm rotor and have done with it. Of course, as with anything, it's not that simple, there are other factors to consider when deciding which size. In this article we aim to clear that up.

Fork and Frame Compatibility

The first thing to consider is fork compatibility. Most forks come with a maximum rotor size that can be fitted, and this information can be found out from the manufacturer, or perhaps by a quick search on Google. By means of example, here are a few
