About MTBHydraulicBrakes.com
This site was started by a frustrated mountain biker in early 2010. Considering upgrading the v-brakes on his Specialized Rockhopper to disc brakes, he began to trawl the internet searching for more information and some advice as to what he should be looking for. He was surprised to find that there was very little information available, and what information there was seemed to be biased towards one manufacturer or another. He soon decided that something would have to change, and he began researching into building a website that would be benefit anybody in the exact same position in the future. This is how MTBHydraulicBrakes.co.uk was born.
The site was originally designed as a simple buying guide, comparing the disc brakes available on the market, and collating reviews from various external sites. Soon after, the addition of workshop guides to fitting, servicing and repairing disc brakes, and industry news turned MTBHydraulicBrakes.co.uk into a valuable and comprehensive resource for all mountain bikers, and for others working in the industry.
Many hours went into researching the topic. Visits to mountain bike shops, calls to the manufacturers, trips to the library and many hours buried in the pages of the various mountain bike magazines were the key to collating everything you read here. A lot of time and effort has been put in to this, in order to provide the ultimate resource. Please take a moment to have a look at the 'special thanks' section below.
In addition, we have always endeavored to keep the site as relevent, accurate and up-to-date as possible, one way we have achieved this is by listening to our readers. If you have any comments or suggestion, or indeed if you have any questions for which the answers are not covered on the site, then please use our comment form. We try to reply to every single message, although at busy times there may be a delay, so bear with us.
